Our Lady of Guadalupe reenacts the Passion of Jesus Christ today

Posted: Updated:

Today is Good Friday, the most solemn day on the Christian calendar.

All around the world Christians remember this day as when Jesus Christ was crucified.

In Scottsbluff, the children of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church reenacted the Passion of Jesus Christ, the moments leading up to his crucifixion.

The event began at the Guadalupe Center at noon. Members of the church and people throughout the community walked three blocks through the streets ending at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Organizer Juan Venzor, who also played the role of Jesus Christ, says the walk brings Christians closer to their faith.

"A lot of people know what happens but they can't fathom it personally. It's a lot more different when you see somebody carrying a cross and people yelling at him and you're part of the crowd. It bring you back to that period," said Venzor.

More than one hundred people attended the reenactment today.
