July jury trial date scheduled for W. Nebraska Veteran's Home robber

The man accused of robbing a resident at the Western Nebraska Veteran's Home is set to go to trial this summer.

32 – year – old Curtis Soester is facing a felony robbery after allegedly taking a wallet belonging to David Bixler.

Today, District Judge Randall Lippstreu set the matter for preliminary hearing on June 26th, and is set to go to trial in the jury term beginning July 7th.

During his preliminary hearing, Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner showed the crime- which was caught on camera. It clearly shows a man sneaking up behind Bixler while he was smoking a cigarette snatch his chain wallet and flee. Scottsbluff Police Captain Brian Wasson testified on how police used surveillance video to catch the culprit.

While Soester was being arrested, they found the driver's license belonging to Bixler, and Soester also told police where they could find the keys to Bixler's safe deposit box.
