Drunk driver causes thousands of dollars of damage at Chadron park

On Saturday April 19, 2014 at 3:00 P.M., the Chadron Police Department received a call of an injury accident located in Wilson Park.  Chadron Police officers arrived on scene and located a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup had rolled over onto its top, after striking a fence and hitting a tree.  The driver of the pickup, 28 year old Jacob Spears and passenger 43 year old Richard Little Moon were outside of the vehicle when the officers arrived on scene.  A Chadron Fire Department rescue unit was called to the scene and Little Moon was transported to the Chadron Community Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.

Chadron Police Officers conducted an investigation into the cause of the accident and as a result, Spears was cited and released for the offenses of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Criminal Mischief, Willful Reckless Driving, and No Operators License.  

Total estimated damage to the vehicle involved in the accident was estimated at $1,700.00.  Estimated damage to the split rail fence, metal fences, and landscape of Wilson Park was estimated at $7,000.00. 

Chadron Fire Department assisted on scene.
