Fourth graders make their contribution on Arbor Day

Posted: Updated:
In honor of Arbor Day, some giving fourth graders did their part to contribute to the environment.

Morrill 4th graders made their way out to Jeanne Steen Veteran's Memorial Park to learn about the importance of Arbor Day.

The class helped plant one of over twenty trees that will be planted around Morrill over the next few weeks.

The curious kids were encouraged to ask questions as they took turns digging into the soil.

Fourth grader Paityn Homan says she was excited to plant a tree because she knows just how important they are.

"Because it gives us oxygen and it helps our world look way better," says Homan. "Because if it was just dead trees, it'd look pretty black."

Homan says planting the tree made it fun to learn about the Nebraska founded holiday.
