Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chuck Hassebrook says NE needs to develop rural jobs, wind energy

Nebraska's only Democratic candidate in the running for governor stopped by the KOTA Territory studios Sunday morning
Chuck Hassebrook says he's the best candidate for Nebraska's next governor because he "has the most experience working to revitalize the whole state of Nebraska, not just urban areas on the eastern part of the state."

Hassebrook says during the 17 years he spent as the Director for the Center of Rural Affairs, he helped more than 10,000 small businesses get their start.

Hassebrook says small rural development is one of his key focal points during his campaign, as well as developing Nebraska's wind resource.
"Nebraska has the best wind in America to generate electricity. We're the Saudi Arabia of wind. But yet, I think we're 21st in wind development because of a profound lack of leadership. But when I'm governor, we're not going to be 21st, we're going to be growing every year on that. And part of it is, I'm going to help bring transmission lines here to the panhandle so we can develop the world class wind resource you have here in the panhandle."
Hassebrook says if elected governor he also plans to work on Medicaid expansion, investing in education, and increasing veteran's services.
