DUI arrests made over the weekend not prom-related

Posted: Updated:
Troopers with Nebraska State Patrol say it was a great weekend overall for teenage drivers returning home from prom.
This past weekend, NSP along with deputies from the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office held three sobriety check points around the county.

Lieutenant Jamey Balthazor with state patrol says throughout the night five drivers were arrested for drunk driving and five people were cited for not wearing their seatbelts.

Balthazor says to his knowledge none of the DUI arrests were related to drivers returning home from high school proms.
"I did talk to several of the prom goers, they advised that they had a nice time. It was a well organized prom and they had a good time. I was not made aware of any alcohol violations or issues as a result of the prom."
Balthazor says there were also at least 12 vehicles stopped that had a designated driver.

He says troopers will be out again this weekend in anticipation for Cinco de Mayo festivities.
