Beau McCoy focusing on job creation in final push for Republican nod for Governor

Posted: Updated:
As the Republican race for Nebraska's next governor closes out, one of the six candidates is putting the state's economy as a focal point of his campaign.

State Senator Beau McCoy stopped by the KOTA Territory News studio this week to talk about his campaign with Jerry Dishong.

McCoy comes from an ag background, and is also the owner of a construction company. He says as a small business owner, he wants to continue Governor Dave Heineman's efforts to lower taxes and grow the economy.

"Well I've stood right alongside with Governor Heineman the last 6 years making sure we're cutting taxes and controlling spending and growing jobs in Nebraska," says McCoy. "It's part of what I go through every day in small business- as so many folks across Nebraska do."

If elected, McCoy pledges he'll create 10,000 new jobs and cut property taxes by $100 million. If he doesn't get that done, he says he won't seek a second term.
