Deadlines loom for mail-in, early voters

Posted: Updated:
Election day is 12 days away, but that doesn't mean voters have to wait to cast their ballots.

The early voting period is open until May 12th.

Scotts Bluff County Clerk Vera Dulaney says registered voters can stop by the court house any time up to the day before the election to cast their votes.

People also can vote by mail if they turn in a mail-in application before Monday, May 7th.

Dulaney says whether voters plan to vote early by mail, or report to your precinct on voting day, its important that everyone double check they are registered correctly.

"I just encourage people to check and see how they are registered, sometimes we assume that after we move we did change it, and we find out later that we didn’t. So it’s very important to check on that, and they can call our office to ask if they need to.”

For those who aren't registered the last day to register to vote in the primary election is this Friday, May 2nd.

Dunaley says the clerk’s office will be open until 6 p.m. that night for people to register.
