Chadron's Community Garden ready to plant

Chadron's Community Garden is tilled, prepped, and ready to plant.

The Community Garden on 6th Street in Chadron is a place for anyone in the community looking to garden that doesn't have the space of their own.

The city is renting various sized plots of the garden for people to plant fruits and vegetables.

Chadron City Manager Wayne Anderson says some organizations have also used the garden to give back to the community.

"The Job Corps rented a plot the year before, and everything they grew, we had a feeding program here, Closer To Home, that they donated all of their fresh produce to Closer To Home, which is really an excellent way to have that community support."

Anderson says spaces of the garden cost between $20 to $30 dollars and are rented on a first come–first serve basis.
