Alliance superintendent makes call to applicant for principal position; waits response

Posted: Updated:
Two Nebraska men hoping to become the next Alliance High School principal have completed their visits around the school and now an announcement on the chosen candidate could come as early as this week.
At the end of April, the finalists Kevin Walker of Auburn and Darrin Max of Anselmo-Merna toured the high school.

Alliance Superintendent Dr. Troy Unzicker says the two men met with several people in the district including school board members, administrators, students, teachers and parents.

Thirteen candidates originally applied for the position and Unzicker says the interview process for the remaining two went over well.
"Both candidates interviewed very well. Had a lot of support from the groups for both candidates. We haven't made our selection yet, we do have a call out to a candidate and I'm waiting for a return call," said Unzicker.
Unzicker says the chosen candidate would likely start the new position August 1st.

On March 26th, Dr. Vickie Grant stepped in as the Building Administrator for the high school after Dr. Pat Jones resigned and left for the remainder of the school year. Unzicker says Jones's resignation will be effective at the end of the school year.
