New donut shop satisfying customers' sweet tooth

Posted: Updated:
A new donut business in Scottsbluff is leaving a sweet taste in the mouths of customers and sticky fingers on the hands of kids.

Donuts have been flying off the shelves since Daylight Donuts on 27th Street opened last Thursday.

The donut chain has more than 900 independently owned stores across the nation, including one in Scottsbluff. Co-owner Frank Long has been making donuts for 15 years. He says he has the technique down pat.

Long says he gets up at 1 a.m. to prepare the dough and make sure all the ingredients are ready.

"And then, you know we have to cook all day long," Long smiles. "People keep coming, we keep cooking you know. And when I get tired, that's it," he laughed.

Long says since opening the new shop, he and his wife sell at least 1,000 donuts a day in less than a few hours.

Long says the business will currently be opened 7 days a week. If things start to slow down he'll adjust his schedule.
