Attorney for alleged meth dealer hospitalized in middle of suppression hearing

Posted: Updated:
A fairly routine hearing scheduled for this afternoon became very serious, after a defense attorney suffered a medical issue in the middle of the hearing.

Todd Morten was representing 27-year-old George Valles during a motion to suppress and bond review hearing.

During the middle of the hearing, Morten became light-headed, and had E.M.T.'s transport him to Regional West Medical Center to get checked out. A hospital spokesperson says he is not listed in the directory.

The hearing will be continued at a later date.

Valles is being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute more than 140 grams. He has plead not guilty to the charge. Investigators found more than one pound of methamphetamine during a search of Valles' Mitchell home. Also charged are Joseph Lowery and Christin Valles.

George Valles is currently slated to go to trial on the charge during the jury term that begins on June 3, 2014.
