Charges filed against Hawk Springs shooting suspect

Charged have been filed by Goshen County Attorney Patrick Korell regarding the shooting in Hawk Springs that occurred on or about April 26, 2014.

The Charges were filed in the Circuit Court of Goshen County against William Schlager Jr. are as follows:

Count I: Attempted 1st Degree Murder
Count II: Use of a Firearm While Committing a Felony
Count III: Attempted Robbery
Count IV: Aggravated Assault & Battery
Count V: Use or Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felony Offenses

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Saturday April 26th, Deputies from the Goshen County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to The Emporium in Hawk Springs, Wyoming for a reported shooting.

When Deputies arrived, they found one victim, Timothy Toedter of Hawk Springs, Wyoming, with a gunshot wound being attended to by medics from the Hawk Springs Fire Department.  Deputies soon learned the suspect had fled the scene southbound on US Highway 85.  The victim was transported by medics to  Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol apprehended the suspect north of Cheyenne, Wyoming on US Highway 85 and he was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
