DOVES Program receives annual Visionary Voice award

Posted: Updated:
Members of the DOVES Program in Scottsbluff are being recognized for their efforts to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault in the community.
During what staff members thought was a mandatory meeting turned into a surprise ceremony. Presenters from the Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition in Lincoln honored the group of women with the Visionary Voice award.

The annual award is normally given to an individual in Nebraska but this year the Scottsbluff program was recognized for its hard work to prevent sexual violence throughout western Nebraska.

Executive Director for NDVSAC, Michelle Miller, says in an area with limited community resources, the DOVES program has been creative in its approach to serve the community.
"They also do really well coordinating with other services. Part of responding to sexual assault is coordinating with other law enforcement, college campuses, therapists, hospitals, and DOVES has done a remarkable job monitoring those relationships," said Miller.
