Hawk Springs shooter to make first court appearance Friday

The man accused of shooting a Hawk Springs man at a restaurant is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Saturday April 26th, Deputies from the Goshen County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to The Emporium in Hawk Springs, Wyoming for a reported shooting.

When Deputies arrived, they found one victim, Timothy Toedter of Hawk Springs, Wyoming, with a gunshot wound being attended to by medics from the Hawk Springs Fire Department.  Deputies soon learned the suspect had fled the scene southbound on US Highway 85.  The victim was transported by medics to  Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol apprehended William Schlager Jr. of Fort Collins, Colorado, north of Cheyenne on US Highway 85 and he was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He is being charged with the following
Count I :I Attempted First Degree Murder

Count II: Use of a Firearm While Committing a Felony
Count III: Attempted Robbery
Count IV: Aggravated Assault & Battery
Count V: Use or Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felony Offenses

Schlager has a 2 p.m. court time for his initial appearance and bond hearing .

 Goshen County Sheriff Donald J. Murphy says the shooting left Toedter paralyzed.
