National 'Walk at Lunch Day' raises $5,000 for NE Game and Parks Foundation

Walkers from across the state who participated in last month's national 'Walk at Lunch Day' raised $5,000 to benefit the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation.
Hundreds of people from nearly 500 schools and businesses across the state spent their lunch hour on April 30 walking together.

The national day, sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, is designed to encourage people to walk and form a healthy lifestyle.

For every school, business or organization that participated in the event, Blue Cross and Blue Shield donated $20 to the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation.

This year, walkers raised a total of $5,000 for the Foundation that will go to enhance statewide biking and hiking trails.
Money from the walk was also donated to the Special Olympics.
