Thursday electrical fire causes $25,000 in damage to northern Scottsbluff home

Posted: Updated:
A faulty electrical outlet is being blamed as the cause for a house fire in northern Scottsbluff.

Scottsbluff Rural Assistant Fire Chief Paul Reisig says that at 4:14 p.m. crews were dispatched to a house fire at 910 Mt. View Lane. Captain Anthony Trevino helped spearhead the initial attack on the west side of the building. Crews were able to keep the fire to the one isolated area and keep it from spreading to the rest of the house.

State Fire Marshall Mike Turner investigated, and said a faulty outlet in the west bedroom was the cause of the blaze. He estimated $25,000 in damages to the home, and an additional $10,000 to personal items.

The house sustained significant smoke damage as a result of the fire, but nobody was injured.
