Bryan Slone focusing on taxes during run for Governor

Gering High School graduate Bryan Slone is priding himself on running a clean campaign for governor.

The former tax attorney is making a final push to emerge as the top candidate from a crowded field of six Republicans.

Slone says he is visiting about four cities per day as the may primary nears. He says there are still a lot of Nebraskans who are struggling to figure out who they’re going to vote for – which Slone feels is an advantage.

"And so the real message is to just stay on point," explains Slone. "Who I am, what I’ve done. Focus on tax reform and spending- which are the key items that I’m bringing to the table; both in terms in my background working with the Reagan administration but also in terms of a tax reform agenda.”

Slone has a plan to reduce income tax from 6.8 percent to 4 percent, as well as lower Nebraska’s property tax – which is third highest in the country.
