Public encouraged to join law enforcement for "Torch Run'

The long standing relationship between area law enforcement and the Special Olympics continues this year.
Law enforcement from across the panhandle will be hitting the streets next weekend to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Nebraska.

The 2014 'Law Enforcement Torch Run' has been running in the panhandle for upwards of twenty years.
Jason Rogers, Gering Police Captain, says this is the second year the public is invited to take part in the 10k run.

He says the experience is more than worth it.
"Its probably one of the most wonderful things you can do because when you see the athletes faces they'll remember you forever and when you know you're doing something good for someone who will appreciate you until the end of the earth, it makes the experience all the work while to take part in."
This year's torch run will take place Saturday, May 17th, registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
