Scottsbluff woman arrested after getting caught stealing drugs

Posted: Updated:
A Scottsbluff woman was arrested late Tuesday night after someone reported a theft from their home.

20-year-old Jessica Johnston is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone and hydrocodone), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft less than $200.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on East Overland after the victim said Johnston stole a bottle of hydrocodone from him and left in a small black car. When officers found Johnston, they noticed a marijuana pipe and empty pill bottles within her residence. A further search of the residence turned of a bong, a pipe, marijuana grinder and marijuana in her shoe. In her purse, they found the bottle of hydrocodone, as well as several oxycodone pills.

Court documents say that Johnston admitted to taking the hydrocodone, and the victim gave her the oxycodone.

An arraignment has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Scotts Bluff County Court.
