Scottsbluff voter turnout numbers are in

Posted: Updated:
Primary elections have now come to a close and the results are in.

Some race victories were more surprising than others, but what was perhaps more surprising was the amount of Nebraskans who voted.

Less than 30% of Nebraska’s voters turned out for this year’s primary. The trend proved similar in the Scottsbluff area.

Scotts Bluff County Clerk Vera Dulaney says that the goals are always to have a higher percentage of voters and although Scottsbluff did not, she was pleased.

“We did have 23 percent which was a little higher than we might have expected," says Dulaney. "The state prediction was for at least 30. We didn’t match that, but we did pretty well overall. I think there was a large response from early voters this time.”

Dulaney says she thinks early voting will continue to be a trend and will be a larger percentage of the voters come November.
