Glendale, CA / myprgenie.com / ACCESSWIRE / May 16, 2014 / Audio-Digest Foundation Announces the Release of UrologyVolume 37, Issue 05: Nephrology for the Urology.

The goal of this program is to improve awareness of the potential renal effects of herbal medicines and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and to improve evaluation and management of asymptomatic proteinuria. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:

1. Advise patients on the risks for heavy metal and other contaminants in herbal supplements and their potential impact on renal function.

2. Recognize and help patients avoid herbal supplements with components that have direct nephrotoxicity.

3. Identify patients at risk for NSAID-mediated renal effects or injuries.

4. Evaluate the patient with asymptomatic proteinuria.

5. Prescribe appropriate medical and nonmedical therapy for the management of persistent proteinuria.

The original programs were presented by Jonathan Segal, MD, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology, University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor. Paul E. Segal, DO, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD.
