Regional West Medical Center received $26,000 grant from Verizon Foundation

Twenty–six thousand dollars will be heading to a local hospital to expand technology and health care services.

Regional West Medical Center received the grant money from the national Verizon Foundation through the Campaign for Continuing Excellence.

The Verizon Foundation supports technology advancement in health care, education, and energy management.

The money will help to fund the hospital's new Education Center, which is currently being constructed on the second floor.

Verizon reps say the new education center will "provide a learning environment for physicians and staff that will include the latest technology for health care and education.

Regional West is one of only three recipients of the grant, which is can only be applied for by invitation only.
