Bear Cub Preschool receives another grant for expansion

Posted: Updated:
One local preschool has been awarded a significant chunk of change to expand their facilities.

Bear Cub Preschool in Scottsbluff has been approved for an expansion grant through the Department of Education. They will receive $125,000.

The district was able to show need for the expansion, finding that there has been a decrease in the number of licensed child care centers in Scottsbluff.

Superintendent Richard Myles says that the number of families with younger children is increasing.

"But we're discovering that the early childhood market in this community is significant, that there is a big need for it. We felt there would be. And as quick as we can build and staff's already getting filled up, so that's been great," says Myles.

Currently, 103 students are already registered for preschool for the 2014–2015 school year.
