Judge grants request to release grand jury information in "Justice for Juliette" case

A Scotts Bluff County District Judge has granted a motion to release information obtained in a Grand Jury investigation for the 2008 death of Juliette Geurts.

27-year-old Dustin Chauncey is being charged with  intentional child abuse causing death. Those charges stem from a 2012 Grand Jury investigation that found Chauncey as the main culprit.

In March, Defense Attorney Todd Lancaster says that under state statute, all information gathered during the investigation merit the charges against Chauncey. Grand Jury testimony from roommate Brandon Townsend was used to arrest Chauncey on probable cause.

District Judge Leo Dobrovolny approved the following to be released to Lancaster;
a) Court reporters notes and transcripts of all grand jury proceedings and testimony from commencement to adjournment
b) All exhibits viewed by the grand jury
c) The subpoenas issued pursuant to the grand jury investigation
d) The record of all denials of requests to testify or re-testify before the grand jury; including reasons for not allowing such persons to testify, re-testify, or appear
e) Any notice by any witness subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury that the witness intended to exercise their privilege against self incrimination, any witnesses refusal to answer any interrogatory during examination
f) Any application submitted by prosecuting attorney to why any witness should not be held in contempt for refusing to testify
g) The name of every person who was present with the grand jury at any time during the grand jury proceedings
h) The report of the grand jury

Currently, Chauncey is slated to go to trial on August 11th, 2014.
