WNCC staff and donors hold residence hall groundbreaking ceremony

Posted: Updated:
All hands were on deck for a groundbreaking ceremony at the campus of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff.

Donors, college staff, city officials and many more held shovels and tossed dirt to recognize the expansion project of Pioneer Residence Hall.

College president Dr. Tom Holcomb says part of the project will focus on renovating the windows and bathrooms and then adding another housing section to the building.

He says the $5.6 million dollar expansion is an opportunity to house sixty-six more students.

"The last few years we had people on a waiting list and we'll be able to meet that waiting list. It'll also give us an opportunity to house some of the University of Nebraska Medical Center students," said Holcomb.

Construction for the new campus addition is underway and is expected to finish next fall.
