Scotts Bluff County Memorial Day Weekend programs

The public is encouraged to partake in Memorial Day Weekend programs around Scotts Bluff county during the next few days. Scotts Bluff County and Banner County Veterans Service Officer John Brehm says there are several programs beginning on Sunday.

"We have a lot of our fallen comrades, soldiers and sailors that have expired and I think it's just good to honor them. One of these days I might even be on that list and I think it's very important," said Brehm.

Local cemeteries will honor veterans buried at the following locations:

Sunday, May 25th:
- Creighton Valley Cemetery (east of Gering on Hwy 92) hosts its service at 2:30 p.m.

Monday, May 26th:
- Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff at 9:00 a.m.
- Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery (west of Scottsbluff on Hwy 26) at 11:00 a.m.
- Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff at 1:30 p.m.
- West Lawn Cemetery at Gering at 10 a.m.
- Mitchell Valley Cemetery at the North Platte River Bridge at 10:30 a.m.
- North Mitchell Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
- East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare at 11:00 a.m.
