SBNM now open for summertime hours

Posted: Updated:

Visitors to the Scotts Bluff National Monument can now enjoy an extra hour at the park.
From now to Labor Day, the Monument will be operating under summer hours, which is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

That gives visitors an extra hour to mill the gift shop, check out exhibits and take in the view.

Park Ranger Lesley Gaunt says the road to the summit will close at 5:30 p.m., giving visitors just enough time to drive up, take pictures, and make it back down by closing time.
"The grounds, which means the trails, will be open sunrise to sunset, which is true year round. Course summer hours, that means longer time to go hiking around."
The Scotts Bluff National Monument will also be hosting living history demonstrations throughout the summer.
