The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department is on scene for a fatal motor vehicle accident in rural Mitchell.

KOTA Territory News has learned that a 17-year-old female has died in a one-vehicle automobile accident that occurred on County Road D, between County Road 17 and Cook Oil Road, northeast of Mitchell around 7 p.m. Tuesday Night.

A 20-year-old male was transported to Regional West Medical Center.

Officials say that the vehicle was traveling westbound on County Road D, drifted off the road to the north and over-corrected. Upon re-entering County Road D the vehicle rolled over twice.

When officials arrived, the female driver was partially ejected and was deceased at the scene.

Both occupants are Scotts Bluff County residents.

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says seatbelts were not worn during the time of the accident and alcohol is suspected. Family members are being notified at this time. Names have not been released as of yet.
