Former Alliance boys ranch to reopen as a Teen Challenge of the Midlands Facility

Posted: Updated:
Nearly four years after closing its doors, a Nebraska panhandle Boys Ranch will soon be back in operation.

Renovations have begun on the former Boys Ranch facility located 17 miles south of Alliance.

The former Boys Ranch had been in operation from 1965 to 2010, when it closed due to a dwindling population.

The facility is not set to reopen this fall, as a 'Teen Challenge of the Midlands Facility.'

The new facility will focus on drug and alcohol issues and negative behaviors in boys ages 13 to 17.

Isaac Hunsberger, with Teen Challenge of the Midlands, says the facility will also have an area honoring the history of the Boys Ranch, which served as a home for more than 750 youths during its 45 years in operation.
