Cirrus House celebrates 30 years as an organization

Posted: Updated:
Members of the Cirrus House in Scottsbluff served up pulled pork and other food items during their annual block party for people in the community.
The annual event was extra special because today marks 30 years since Cirrus House became an organization.

Executive Director Brent Anderson says the organization is there to serve people who are dealing with mental illness and help them get back into the community by getting employed or reaching personal goals.

He says the event is also a time to make visitors aware of mental illness.
"Mental illness can affect, depending on the studies you look at, one in four people in their lifetime. So it's actually a very common phenomenon that we deal within our society and that's what Cirrus House is here for to help people overcome these obstacles and get back to the swing of life and not let their mental illness hold them back," said Anderson.
Cirrus House became an organization in 1984.
