Property valuations to be sent out tomorrow

Posted: Updated:
Tomorrow is the big day for homeowners wondering if the valuation on their property has received an adjustment.

Because every year uses different measures of sale, there is no way for assessors to predict how much of an adjustment would be needed each year.

According to assessors, the largest percent increases for residential are the village of Morrill who received a 23% increase and portions of east Scottsbluff which has a 13% increase.

County Assessor Amy Ramos says that the process is not very complicated.

"What we do is, we find out the property characteristics, the square footage, the year built, quality, condition, all that good stuff and then we find what the market trends are going to do for that market area. So if it's trending up, we've got to figure to trend everything up. Same thing if it starts trending down," says Ramos.

If someone disagrees with the changes, they may file a protest form, available at the Assessors office.
