Westmoor pool opens, locals and visitors stay cool

Posted: Updated:
Kids in one KOTA Territory city had the chance to splash around in a local pool as the start of the outdoor swimming season gets underway.

Family and friends lined up at Westmoor pool in Scottsbluff waiting for the doors to open this afternoon.

Co-assistant manager Michele Kuxhausen says her staff has been preparing for opening day the last three weeks by cleaning the pool and having lifeguard trainings.

She says there are 10 lifeguards at the Westmoor pool and each one is very excited for the start of the summer pool season.

"We just did life guard in-service and training for the last week to make sure that their skills are all ready to do rescues if we need them. We very rarely have to but they'll know what they're doing if they need to go in," said Kuxhausen.

One scottsbluff resident said she's been waiting since the end of last summer to enjoy the pool's slide with her friends.

"Well this year we got a pass finally so we'll be here a lot. Last year we couldn't get a pass," said Trinity Newsom.

Kuxhausen says she wants everyone to have an enjoyable and safe summer.
