All-Stars Shine At Cougar Palace

The 2014 Panhandle Prep All Star basketball games showcased the best talent in Western Nebraska and the 40 All Stars did not disappoint.  On the girls side it was Team Red coming from behind to defeat Team Blue in a thriller 51-46.  Team Blue would roar out to a double digit lead in the first half and maintain the advantage through halftime. However Taylor Peters (Mitchell) and Kiley Guerue (Morrill) would rally Team Red and they would tie the contest late in the second half.  Then with under a minute to play Ashlea Kerr (Chadron) would sink a three pointer to give Team Red the lead for good.  Peters was named game Most Valuable Player.

The boys contest would see Team Red roar out to a big lead.  Just like the girls contest the trailing team would make a second half rally as Team Blue closed to within a couple points.  However Team Red would answer Team Blue's rally to pick up the win.  Bryant Knigge (Potter Dix) would lead the Blue team in the contest.  While Trevor Kamerzell (Alliance) was named game Most Valuable Player.

The night also featured a slam dunk contest won by Ogallala's Jared Jaeger and 3-point contest won by Rylee Trout (Alliance) and Bo McVay (Mitchell).
