Bikers travel panhandle for good cause

Posted: Updated:
Bikers from across the state rumbled through the panhandle covering more than 120 miles all for a good cause.
The 7th annual pre-summer MS Ride for a Cure kicked off in Scottsbluff this morning.

About 20 riders with the American Bikers Aiming Towards Education (ABATE) came together to raise funds and bring awareness to the public about multiple sclerosis.

Bikers passed through Bridgeport, Sidney and Kimball before finishing in Gering.
Assistant District Director Rick Gilbert says he was approached by a friend with MS seven years ago who wanted to inform the public about the disease.
"She inquired to me about wanting to know if ABATE could do something for MS so I said ok no problem. I'll see what I can do and I put the run on and it's been going on ever since and I'm going to want to do it as long as I can," said Gilbert.
Gilbert says all the money raised will go to Lincoln and help support programs supporting MS.
