Posted: Updated:
A Scottsbluff man is facing several serious charges after getting pulled over for speeding early Saturday morning.

26-year-old Joshua Larez was arrested at 1:56 a.m. after a Scottsbluff Police Officer saw a car going 33 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone.

The officer recognized Larez from previous contacts, and had an outstanding arrest warrant for child abuse and meth possession from a previous arrest. When the officer attempted to handcuff Larez, he broke free and fled on foot.

The chase went through several backyards in residential area, and Larez jumped several wooden fences and eluded the officer for a period of time. Other officers responded to the area and found Larez hiding on the ground in a nearby backyard.

When the officer went back to the vehicle, he found a can of Budweiser and several drug paraphernalia items. He was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, obstruction of a police officer, vandalism, open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
