Standing up against underage drinking

Posted: Updated:
A Scottsbluff woman continues her crusade against underage drinking.
Last weekend, three Scottsbluff businesses were caught selling alcohol to minors during annual compliance checks. Lanette Richards with Monument Prevention Coalition says underage alcohol sales need to stop.

Over the past year and a half, there have been several alcohol related fatalities that have claimed teenagers lives in the region. Richards says it is up to the adults to properly guide children into making the choice not to drink underage.
"I don't know how many lives we have to lose or how many lives have to be steered in a negative direction before we see that this is unacceptable in our community," says Richards. She adds that buying alcohol for minors is not only wrong... but illegal - and punishable by heavy fines and even jail time.
