Man charged with forgery, theft faces September trial

The man accused of stealing and forging checks belonging to his girlfriend's grandparents has pled 'not guilty' to two felony charges.
27-year-old Joseph Aguilar is charged with second degree forgery and theft by taking, both class three felonies.

Police say Aguilar wrote several thousand dollars worth of checks to himself that he took from his girlfriend's grandfather.

Aguilar pled not guilt to the charges on Friday, and will be heading to trial in September.

Judge Leo Dobrovonly agreed to reduce Aguilar's bond on Friday, from $50,000 dollars to $25,000 dollars at 20% percent cash.
Deputy Attorney Scott Blaha opposed a bond reduction for Aguilar, saying he is facing up to 50 years in prison, and could be a flight risk if out on bail.
