Local students offered free school lunches through summer

Just because local students are on summer vacation, doesn't mean they have to miss-out on nutritious school lunches.
The Scottsbluff Public Schools summer lunch program kicked off Monday at Lincoln Heights and Roosevelt Elementary School.

Lunches are free to students up to 18 years of age, and are served daily from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lunches will be served weekdays through July 25th, and will include normal school-service menu items.
"The summer feeding program is a program to feed students in the summertime that might not otherwise have lunch. And it's just important to help them have a balanced meal, at least at lunchtime," said Roosevelt lunch server Peggy Sittner.
Adults may also purchase a hot lunch at either school for $3.50.
