Registration open for United Way's 5K Color Dash

Members of United Way of Western Nebraska are gearing up for the 2nd annual 5K for United Way Color Dash.

During a Monday news conference at First State Bank in Scottsbluff, organizers spoke about what participants can expect at the June 28th fundraiser.

The event will start at 8 a.m. at Five Rocks Amphitheater in Gering. Races will start in groups every few minutes from the starting line. Runners will dash through the city and get splashed with paint to raise money for United Way.

Organizers say this is a great way to spend time with family and friends. "We came up with this idea last year. It was a last minute run and threw it together just a few weeks and it was such a huge success we decided to do it again," said Jeana Allen, United Way's Special Events and Marketing Coordinator.

"I think people that were involved in it will come back this year and many years to come," said Mike Downey, First State Bank's President. "Because it's just a good family event and everybody seems to enjoy it. They bring out their families. I think everybody should sign up and give it a try."

Early registration lasts until June 20th. Adults (ages 17 and older) cost $30. Students (ages 6-16) cost $20. Kids 5 and younger are free.
Late registration starts after June 20th. Adults (ages 17 and older) cost $40. Students (ages 6-16) cost $30. Kids 5 and younger cost $10.

To register go to www.unitedwayofwesternnebraska.com. Or visit First State Bank in Scottsbluff or United Way of Western Nebraska with cash payment.
