New program launched to better prepare high school students for college

Posted: Updated:
One local high school is introducing a program that they feel will dramatically increase students' skill level and college readiness.

Scottsbluff high school has launched "project lead the way" (PLTW) programs in computer science, bio-medical science, and engineering.

A major aspect of this program is working closely with the local community to give students advice from first-hand experiences in various careers.

Although PLTW is catered toward science, technology, engineering and math, Director of School Engagement Kim Glenn says bringing in community members will allow for career diversity.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for them and the students and everyone to come together and see what they can do for not only the students here, but the community," says Glenn.

Glenn also says that the professional development that students receive is one of the main reasons it is so successful.
