Several Local Rodeo Athletes Set For CNFR

The 2014 College National Finals Rodeo is set to begin in Casper on Sunday.

Several local cowboys and cowgirls will be in action when the event begins this weekend.

Both Chadron State and Eastern Wyoming Community College will be well represented in Casper.

On the CSC side the ladies will have the spotlight as five athletes are national bound.

The Lady Eagles are coming off a second place finish in the Central Rocky Mountain regular season standings and have a lot of momentum.......

Leading the way Scottsbluff native Shelby Winchell, Amy Tierney, and Shaylee Hance.

All three will be in goat tying and making return trips to the CNFR.

Winchell and Hance enter nationals as the top two goat tiers in the region.

Meanwhile Katie Loughran and Amy Deichert will represent Chadron State in barrels both ladies are also making return trips to nationals and looking for success on the big stage.

Eastern Wyoming will have three cowboys in the field.

All will be in team roping.

Derek Weinreis and Levi O'keefe are making return trips to nationals. The duo has been solid all season and looking for another strong finish.

While Trey Yates will team with Donny Scantling of Gillette.............

Hay Springs native and current Northeastern Junior College athlete David Hinman also is heading to Casper.  He will be in tie town roping.

The 2014 College National Finals Rodeo will feature nearly 500 contestants across the country.

And is set to begin this Sunday June 15th and runs through June 21st.
