Cabela's encouraging fishing for area youth

Area radio stations, newspapers and TV stations squared off this morning in Cabela's annual media fishing day.
The world's foremost outfitter had their staff stock the pond at Legion Park in Sidney chock full of trout, bass, and crappies.

KDUH reporter Anndrea Anderson snagged top honors for 'smallest fish' caught for the second straight year, and the Scottsbluff Star Herald edged out KNEB radio in a fish-off after tying for most points.

The event is a precursor for Cabela's annual kid's fishing day that will be held Saturday morning at the park
"It's actually a community event we sponsor at Cabela's," explains Connie Carrillo. "It's for kids 12 and under. We ask you bring your rod and reel combo, but if you don't have one we have lots of bait and lots of tackle and we'll provide it for you."
Carrillo says that last year, nearly 500 children attended the fishing day.
