Cheyenne County woman sentenced for assisting suicide

A Cheyenne County woman who helped carry out her ailing husband's wish to die has been sentenced.

53-year-old Deann Kimble received 36-months of probation, waivable jail time, and 50 hours of community service, and 79 days in jail with credit for the time she already served today in Cheyenne County District Court.

Deputies said Kimble promised her 61-year-old husband Russell Kimble that she would not intervene when he decided it was "his time to die."

On Saturday, March 22nd Russell Kimble rolled himself in a shower curtain and used a shotgun to end his life. At the time, Deann went into their van, turned the volume up on the radio and listened to two songs. When she went back, she knew Russell was deceased. Deann Kimble then wrapped his body is a shower curtain and sheet and buried him in a shallow grave.
