Veterans Transportation Program to discuss federal grant possibility

Posted: Updated:
Often the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country have difficulty with the most basic of necessities.

Transportation for veterans around the country helps ensure getting a ride to wherever they need to go is not an obstacle.
A discussion on the possibility of federal grants for transportation of veterans in highly rural areas will be on Tuesday.

Commander of the Scotts Bluff County DAV chapter Salvadore Franco says that transportation here in the panhandle is incredibly important.

"There are veterans out here that are incapable of driving or do not have vehicles to transport them there, so DAV van are a godsend to them," says Franco. "Without them, there are many veterans that could not make their appointments like they have to."

Representatives from the Veterans Transportation Program will be hosting the summit on Tuesday June 17th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at VFW Post 1681.
