Scottsbluff man crashes stolen vehicle following drunk driving pursuit

A Scottsbluff man's criminal spree comes to a crashing halt following an early morning crash on 5th Avenue. 

Early Tuesday morning, the Scottsbluff Police Department received a report of a hit-and-run accident on Avenue G. About one hour later, a citizen reported a suspicious white Dodge Pickup with front end damage on 8th Avenue. 

When officers responded to the area, the driver fled- initiating a pursuit. The pursuit ended when the suspect, 28-year-old John Alsidez fled from the moving vehicle- which crashed into a fence at 5th Avenue home. 

Alsidez was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit and struggle. He was taken to Regional West Medical Center, and will later be booked into the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center on the charges of: Motor Vehicle Theft, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, Driving Under the Influence (2nd Offense), Willful Reckless Driving, Driving Under Suspension (4th Offense), Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing an Officer, Vandalism, and Leaving the Scene of a Non-injury Accident.
