Jury finds Lowery guilty in Mitchell meth distribution case

Posted: Updated:
After two days of testimony, a Scotts Bluff County jury has found 25-year-old Joseph Lowery guilty of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Lowery was arrested on January 10th after police found methamphetamine in a bedroom he was staying in. Today, Lowery testified that he only spent one night in the home of George Valles, and had never seen any of the drugs that were found in that room.

Charges against Valles were dismissed earlier this month because an illegal search was conducted on a separate, locked bedroom- and the drugs found in their were suppressed as evidence.

He is scheduled for sentencing August 6th at 8 a.m., and is facing a prison sentence ranging from 1 to 50 years.
