NSP recommends safety training to those working with alcohol

Just a few weeks after three local businesses failed alcohol compliance checks, the Nebraska State Patrol is urging those who will be working with alcohol to educate themselves.

Responsible beverage service trainings are being offered to teach managers, owners, servers, and anyone working with alcohol the strategies to avoid illegally selling to underage youth.

Nebraska State Patrol investigator Tami Otto says the class is a great resource for those who have not yet been properly educated.

"It lets the people who are serving alcoholic beverages know what the rules are, what they can and can't do, what they should and shouldn't allow and secondly, I teach them how to check i.ds so that when they do do compliance checks, they know what they should be doing and know how to pass the compliance checks," says Otto.

The trainings typically take three hours to complete.
