West Plains Grain building, expanding in the panhandle

Posted: Updated:
New grain facilities will soon be popping up around the Nebraska panhandle, as well as in parts of South Dakota.

West Plains Grain has plans to build and expand several of it's grain elevators.

New facilities will be added to the West Plain's Gering location, and additions will also be made to the Mitchell site.

Regional Manager Shain Shimic says the company also has plans to expand in the northern part of the state, as well as into South Dakota.

"In the northwest Nebraska area, we're building and adding a new facility at Chadron to load rail out and improve efficiencies on at that area. And to improve our customer service and dumping at our other locations in Batesville and Rushville, we're adding improvements to speed things up there."

Shimic says the upgrades and expansion will help west plains improve the quality and condition of its grain.
