Chautauqua officially kicks off tomorrow

Posted: Updated:
We've seen the signs throughout town, but what exactly is Chautauqua?

The festival put on by Humanities Nebraska allows audiences to experience portrayals of historical figures. A special tent is put up to hold the event and other educational workshops.

Co–chair of Chautauqua Barb Schlothauer says that it is a unique experience for those in the community.

"Well it's a time for our community to get together and hear discussions about what has made us who we are today and there's a lot of history presented, bit it's done in an entertaining fashion, so there's something that everyone will I think enjoy," says Schlothauer.

Chautauqua in Scottsbluff and Gering kicks off tomorrow and runs until Sunday at Legacy of the Plains Museum.
